Presented during the 2022 Orlando International Fringe Festival at Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre, Lizbeth is a contemporary one-act opera in English about accused axe-murderer Lizzie Borden. Stage director Eve Summer returns to Orlando to direct this nightmarish exploration of Lizbeth’s family life and potential motivations, joined by Israeli conductor Noam Aviel, making her Company debut leading the orchestra. Internationally-acclaimed mezzo-soprano Ann McMahon Quintero also makes her Opera Orlando and role debut performing this complex and enigmatic character study of who Borden might have been. She is joined by a wonderful local cast of singers, including Opera Orlando favorites, baritone Chadley Ballantyne and mezzo-soprano Sarah Purser, portraying the roles of Borden’s father and stepmother respectively.

The Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival

 

The Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival is a 14-day immersive cultural experience held this year in-person from May 17-30, and featuring hundreds of ticketed theatrical performances and a free outdoor music festival.

Loch Haven Park serves as the main campus for the festival, though in recent years programming has expanded to venues in nearby neighborhoods. The festival unites local, national, and international artists with the Central Florida community, creating a uniquely diverse arts experience.

This year, Orlando Fringe is expanding with the introduction of DigiFringe, a 14-day digital festival taking place June 3-17. This new event will feature high-quality recordings of every show at the in-person festival plus additional shows presented by artists that could not travel to Orlando in person.

Orlando Fringe is the longest running Fringe theatre festival in the United States.

Every second Sunday of the month is Free Admission for all including a fine art project and touring for the youngsters!

Docent touring and art-making are back! Talk about the artwork with our knowledgeable educators and then create your own masterpiece. Join us at the museum for free admission all day, plus a fine art project you can make with us or take home!

Each Free Family Funday has a different theme based on the current exhibition in the museum.

The course consists of three miles of rad terrain where participants run, walk, dance, and play. You’ll encounter bogs of colored suds along the way, which will bring back childhood memories of car washes and bathtub bubble beards. There’s no question that BUBBLE RUNTM runners are serious about having fun. They range from first-timers (plenty) to seasoned competitors. However, there is no race clock, no timing chips, and no ESPN coverage. Go at your own pace and don’t be concerned about setting a personal record. You can, however, time your run if you wish. Color Run Orlando: What is it?
The Color Run is an untimed, five-kilometer race. As Color Runners reach each kilometer mark, they are doused from head to toe with a different colored powder. At the start line, participants wear white clothes, and they finish the race dripping in color.
After the race, the festivities continue at the Finish Festival, a bigger-than-life party with music, dancing, photo ops, activity booths, and massive color throws that create millions of vivid combinations of colors. We guarantee you, this will be the best post-5K party you’ve ever been to!
Founded in March 2011, the Color Run is the world’s first COLOR 5kTM event which brings communities together to promote healthiness and happiness by running in the “Happiest 5k on the Planet”.
The event will be held at Osceola Heritage Park on Saturday, April 23rd. Runners will be released from the race site at 8:00 am, and all participants must be on the course by 8:30 am.

The Most Expensive U.S. Real Estate Sales For 2021

According to Forbes, Marc Andreessen’s $177 million Malibu dream house topped the list of luxury home purchases last year. Several lavish properties in Palm Beach, the Hamptons and beyond also changed hands in 2021. 

A drop in luxury housing inventory and increased buyer demand drove the high-end real estate market to record prices in 2021, with several sales in the United States surpassing the $100-million mark. As the pandemic continued, the ultra-wealthy sought second (and third) homes to add to their portfolios and were willing to spend a fortune to make their residences more comfortable for extended periods. 

Oceanfront estates in Malibu, Palm Beach and the Hamptons claimed most of the highest sales last year, but a condominium tower in New York also ranked among the most expensive. Home buyers weren’t simply paying for glamorous locations and massive square footage. Among the luxurious amenities included in these mega-purchases were a retinal scanner for master bedroom access and a funicular that leads to the beach. 

As always, billionaires were among the most acquisitive when it came to trophy homes—with Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai elbowing Oracle cofounder Larry Ellison out of the top dozen. Ellison’s purchase of a Palm Beach mansion for $80 million fell just short of the biggest sales last year, based on available public records and published reports. 

Meanwhile, December saw the close of a $200-million purchase of a 340,000-acre Montana spread by media tycoon Rupert Murdoch. The seller was Matador Cattle Co., a subsidiary of Koch Industries, headed by billionaire Charles Koch. That property is not included in this tally because it is technically a commercial investment, and the closing price cannot be confirmed. 

Outside the U.S, luxury properties in Australia and Hong Kong made up some of the priciest transactions in the world, despite both countries experiencing extended lockdown conditions. Hong Kong’s biggest sale played out in the exclusive Peak neighborhood, where an unnamed buyer purchased two units at the Mount Nicholson development for about HKD 1.2 billion (or $150 million). At AUD 60 million (or about US $42.5 million), the reported sale of the Boyd Penthouse atop the ANZ building in Sydney’s Financial District was Australia’s highest transaction of 2021. 

And the momentum in the luxury real estate market shows no sign of slowing down in 2022. Back in January, billionaire hedge fund manager Daniel Och reportedly flipped his penthouse in 220 Central Park South in Manhattan for nearly $190 million—about double what he paid for it in 2019. That price already eclipses the highest sale of 2021.
