If you are ever in the vicinity of Vizcaya, Florida you should take the time to visit the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. A visit to this inspiring location will be time well enjoyed by every member of the family. Vizcaya is open on a daily basis from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. It is not open on Tuesdays, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day. The admission prices are $18 for an adult and $6 for a child between the ages of 6 to 12. All children under 5 years of age receive free admittance. If you are 62 years or older, your admittance price will be $12. All active duty US military personnel and military veterans are admitted free with proper ID.
Before you arrive at Vizcaya, you should become familiar with the Museum and Gardens by visiting Vizcaya.org. Some of the important things to note are that there are many uneven floors and steps throughout Vizcaya’s Main House. The Museum and Gardens encourage video and photography but to protect this valuable collection of history it is essential to comply with the following rules. You can do video recording and non-flash photography for personal use by using hand-held cameras, tablet devices, or cell phones. The use of monopods, tripods, and selfie sticks are not permitted in the Main House. All group photos can only be taken outside of the Main House.
On the north side of the Main House is a beautiful café and gift shop that offers world-class museum shopping and dining. The café overlooks a gorgeous swimming pool and is operated by an award-winning caterer from Miami. The gourmet menu features Italian gelato, fresh salads, delicious sandwiches, espresso, homemade cookies, and an excellent selection of beers and wines. The café also hosts a variety of special events such as “Tea on the Terrace” and wine tastings.
All Vizcaya members can enjoy free admission to the property which includes the gift shop and café. Members will also benefit by receiving a 10% discount at both the gift shop and café. The Vizcaya Museum also provides a 90-minute audio tour that is available in a variety of languages. The audio tour will allow you to select your own personal tour path of any area that you find interesting. The tour is related to both the Gardens and two floors of the Main House. You can purchase this tour on-site only for a cost of five dollars per person.
