Area Foreclosures Among Top 10 In State - October 2008

Florida saw a drop in monthly foreclosures in October, but Orange County saw in an increase in pre-foreclosures, according to Foreclosures.com.
Orange County reported 4,877 pre-foreclosure filings in October, 11 percent higher than the 4,387 filed a month prior, according to Foreclosures.com. The only counties in the state with higher pre-foreclosure filings were Miami-Dade with 6,798 in October and Broward with 6,141.

Lake County had the sixth highest number of completed foreclosures in the state with 513 in October, a 30 percent jump from the 394 recorded in September.
October foreclosure fillings totaled 10,186 in October statewide, a 10 percent drop from September’s 11,365. That still put the Sunshine State at No. 3 nationwide.
Florida’s pre-foreclosure filings also fell from 51,970 in September to 45,360 in October, a 12.7 percent decline.

Nationwide, 11.5 out of every 1,000 households were repossessed by lenders so far this year, which is a 71.6 percent jump from the same period in 2007. Additionally, 24.6 of every 1,000 households have had pre-foreclosure filings so far this year, up 71.5 percent for the first 10 months of last year.

Fair Oaks, Calif.-based Foreclosures.com’s analysis of pre-foreclosure and foreclosure proceedings is based on the number of formal notices filed against a property during the foreclosure process, including notice of default, notice of foreclosure auction, and notice of lender-owned real estate that occurs when a foreclosed property reverts back to the lender.
